Understanding the various uses of Thermal Infra red Technology

category: Thermal Image Training author: thermrtf

The thermal infra red technology has evolved over a period of time. In the earlier days of its discovery in the mid 1950s, this technology was purely restricted to military applications.

The military used this technology to develop infra red detectors that had the capability to target locations, track moving objects in complete darkness or in a smoke filled atmosphere. This technology was also used for developing advanced weapons guidance systems.

Over a period of time this technology was incorporated into the intelligence research to develop new surveillance systems. Today, the thermal infra red technology can be applied to various fields and systems.

It is much sought after by the engineering community to find out accurate measurements for developing complex designs and structures. One of the reasons for the popularity is that it can measure the temperatures of any kind of surface.

It needs to be understood that much of the thermal infra red technology is based on the military applications. This technology allows the user the ability to see in the dark and develop infra red images. No wonder then, this technology has proven to be very useful for the military organizations all over the world.

This technology has also found favor amongst the various fire fighting services. Today, the thermal infra red imaging technology is used by law enforcement agencies, security agencies, transportation services, etc. This technology is also very widely applicable to different kinds of industries. Finally, it is not out of place to say that the thermal infra red technology has encompassed all walks of life.
